Neurodis Foundation

Since its creation in 2007, the Neurodis Foundation, under the aegis of the Innovation and Transitions Foundation, supports neuroscientific research in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It has eight founding members: the University Hospital (CHU) of Lyon, the CHU of Clermont-Ferrand, the CHU of Saint-Étienne, the CHU of Grenoble, the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, the Université Grenoble Alpes, the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and the Inserm. Its president is the Professor Stéphane Thobois, Head of Pathology of Movement and Neuromuscular Pathologies at the Lyon Neurological Hospital.

Driven by the desire to bring researchers and clinicians together, the Neurodis Foundation has built bridges between universities, research institutions and university hospitals with the aim of providing new solutions to neuroscience research so that patients and their close relations benefit as quickly as possible from medical advances from brain research.

From its headquarters in Inserm’s premises at Le Vinatier hospital in Lyon, the Foundation finances regional teams involved in basic and clinical brain research projects through calls for projects. Since 2015, it has distributed more than €500,000 to 18 projects.

Neurodis also has the CIC Chair named "Brain and Mental Health", which funds foreign researchers for stays of one-to-six months. This system allows collaborations with international experts that enrich regional research.

Moreover, the Neurodis Foundation is committed to a prevention mission for the general public and organizes many free and accessible lectures in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It also participates in national events on scientific popularization in partnership with academic actors such as the Fête de la Science or "La semaine du cerveau", making it a key player of regional neurosciences.
