Grands ateliers innovation architecture (GAIA) Foundation

The Grands ateliers innovation architecture (GAIA) Foundation aims to promote national and international research in the fields of architecture, construction, town planning and landscape.

The GAIA Foundation is a flow foundation under the aegis of the Innovation and Transitions Foundation.

It was founded in 2018 by the French Ministry of Culture and the four Écoles nationales supérieures d’architecture (ENSA) of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The French Federation of the Towns (FFB), the Conurbation Authority of Porte de l'Isère (CAPI), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nord-Isère (CCI), the Confederation of Arts and Crafts and Small Enterprises of the Towns (CAPEB), the Regional Council of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Order of Architects and the College of Directors of the ENSA are associate members.

This foundation is based on the national platform of the Grands ateliers innovation architecture, located in Villefontaine, a unique place in France and Europe allowing students, teachers, researchers and building professionals to experiment at scale 1 and meet on topics of training, research and innovation.
