Economy Days

Organized by the Foundation for the Université de Lyon, the Economy Days (Jéco) propose keys to better understand the world around us. The major news topics are addressed with an economical perspective. For the twelfth edition the debates and round tables addressed the theme: "Environment, digital, society... the decade of all dangers".

The Jéco are moderated by more than 250 prestigious speakers, economists, business leaders, political leaders, experts in administration, social actors and journalists. This year, four world-renowned economists have been welcomed:
  • Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences in 2001;
  • Philippe Aghion, Professor at the Collège de France;
  • Branko Milanovic, Professor at the Graduate City University of New York, Associate Researcher at the Computer Science and Systems Laboratory (LIS);
  • Dani Rodrik, Professor of International Political Economy at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Mission and objectives

The Economy Days have a pedagogical vocation: they propose to bring the general public closer to the economy, enlightening it on the economic challenges and the great current changes, with a threefold ambition:
  • To enable citizens to better understand the economic challenges of their daily life;
  • To help them interpret the major economic and social changes in the world;
  • To foster dialogue between the different actors who have competence to talk about the economy.
