3D Plastronics

Train to seize new opportunities for growth

Crossing paths between plastic processing and electronics, plastronics has an extended potential for innovation in a number of industries. Plastronics offers the opportunity to develop connected objects and embedded electronics for use in new and exciting industries, such as autonomous vehicles and connected health.

This emerging field requires technical skills specific to the interface between numerous disciplines (electronics, materials science, chemistry, etc.) and offers new employment opportunities.

The Foundation for the Université de Lyon helps INSA Lyon, CPE Lyon and Lycée Arbez Carme with the engineering and fundraising to develop training programs for students and professionals (3D Plastronics Project).

It carries out this actions in close collaboration with Allizé Plasturgie within the framework of the project labelled Investments for the Future Program (PIA) The Plast To Be (FR).

A range of technical and scientific partners are involved, including the Ampère laboratory, which is currently developing a technical platform "Plastronics and Advanced Packaging" in the framework of this project.

Several companies support this project through financial or in-kind sponsorship.

Organization of the training program

► Students, want to be trained in the field of plastronics?

Next opening: September 2020

Target audience:

All engineering school or university students who have successfully completed their fourth year, including those from the INSA Lyon and CPE Lyon and their partner schools.

The training program will take the form of a “university exchange”, where students graduate from their home institution.
  • For CPE Lyon students
4th year students studying chemistry and digital technology
  • For INSA Lyon students
4th year students from the GM, GE and SGM departments
To apply, submit this document (FR) with a cover letter and a CV before 23 July 2020 to the referring persons in the institutions:

► Professionals, want to be trained in the field of plastronics?

Target audience: Professionals in the field of electronics, mechanics, materials, chemistry, research, innovation, industrialization, marketing, etc., bachelor’s degree with experience or master’s degree.

Several offers are being developed (discovery modules of plastronics, scientific and technical modules, etc.).

It is also possible to develop tailor-made training.

Companies, want to develop or make progress on plastronics projects?

► Submitting a tutored project / Plastronics Innovation and Development Project (projet d’innovation et développement en plastronique, PIDP)

For a period of at least eight weeks between November and the end of January, students will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to solve a specific problem presented by a company.

This project allows companies to address a particular issue while benefiting from the work of several students, the support and monitoring provided by the professors, with access to the technical training resources. This gives students their first experience of a real-life current case that is as close as possible to the needs of the industrial sector, working in a project management situation as part of a multidisciplinary team.
